SNEAK PEEK!

The pyd Design Markets for this year are really starting to shape up and things are looking fabulous!

The markets will be a rare opportunity for design lovers to come and see some truly incredible projects and designers all under one roof!

To give you an idea of what to expect, here is a special sneak peak at some of the star designers who will be showcasing their work.

Trent Jansen's Pregnant Chair

TRENT JANSEN has been hailed as the next superstar of Australian design! His clever and playful designs are a real breath of fresh air and his work has been called relaxed, quirky, friendly, warm and entirely unpretentious.

His now famous Pregnant Chair was showcased at last year's Milan Design Festival and his Kissing Pendants also won the Bombay Sapphire award last year at Melbourne's Bombay Sapphire Design Discovery Awards.

DesignByThem is a vibrant and multidisciplinary design studio that is the brainchild of duo Nicholas Karlovasitis and Sarah Gibson.

The pair have designed everything from medical products, fashion hardware, furniture, lighting and commerical interiors. Their designs are clean, experimental and combine a sense of fun with clear-cut function. All of their products reflect their understanding of Ecodesign (which they teach at university) and their commitment to local manufacturing, with all of their products being produced in Australia.

The popular, LooseChange collection, was inspired by childhood memories of searching for coins down the back of couches.

DesignByThem work with other businesses to help develop new products and ideas and have collaborated with countless big names including Oroton, Toni&Guy, splash entertainment and many many more.

Simon Alexander Cook is a multi-disciplinary designer and artist who creates furniture from salvaged urban timber and creates ecological installations that inspire, educate and restore indigenous species habitats.

Simon has worked with several leading Sydney architects and design studios, such as Tony Masters and Burley Katon Halliday. He has also had his work shown in Object Gallery and represented Australia in Talentborse Handwerk Munchen in Germany.

Taking much inspiration from a life sensitive to natural bushland, farm landscapes and conservation, Simon's art furniture is practical problem solving. Simon puts a lot of focus on ecologically sustainable development and strives for responsibly "good" eco-design.

Vert Design's Glass blown Cup And Jug and Beak Vase

Vert Design is owned and run by Sydney-based industrial designer Andrew Simpson and combines expert commercial design practice with the fun and innovation of a small production house.

There is a very sophisticated and romantic approach to their products and a real passion for the fusion of technicality, functionality and beauty.

Andrew is passionate about EcoDesign and all of their products follow it's principles, including material choice, low-pollution design, material efficient and durable design and of course, the use of eco materials and producing locally.
